Tux Paint is a free, award-winning drawing program for children ages 3 to 12. It combines an easy-to-use interface, fun sound effects, and an encouraging cartoon mascot who guides children as they use the program.

Kids are presented with a blank canvas and a variety of drawing tools to help them be creative. Along with paintbrush, shapes and text, Tux Paint includes a "stamp" feature to add pre-drawn or photographic imagery to pictures, and a set of "magic tools" that provide filter effects (like blur, tint and waves) and interesting drawing tools (like train tracks, bubbles and grass).

Tux Paint includes a collection of "starter" images, both coloring-book style and photo-realistic, and a large collections of stamps are available as a separate download. Additional content can be added by parents and teachers, or downloaded from 3rd parties.

Tux Paint is available for Windows, macOS, Android, Linux, Haiku, and other operating systems.

    Hello,
I would like to know if a Software Requirements
Specification (SRS) document has been made for this game. If not, i would like to work on it. If there is an old document i would like to upgrade it.
    Thank you.

      Hi there,

Tux Paint does not have a Software Requirements Specification at this time. As it is a volunteer-driven project, maintained by developers in their spare time and at their own whim, there is no formal specification of how the software should work.

The project maintains bug report and feature request trackers as part of its project page at SourceForge.net. Some source-code repositories include "to-do" lists ("TODO.txt") found in their documentation subdirectory ("docs/").

There is no guarantee that any particular item will be done, nor any timeline.

      (This is from: https://tuxpaint.org/contact/srs/)

    Hello and Happy new Year,
Alright, i understand that. I was wondering if I could work on the Software Requirements Specification on my own as there is not that document already. All I will try to do is to consider only the parts of the game that are alrealdy done. Would this be OK?
    Thank you!

    Hello,
I was trying to confurm how this project works all this days. My main purpose was to use as many tools and brushes as possible and I think I found some issues that may need to be remaked.
When I select "lines" as tool and "star" as brush, the stars are not obvious because each star appears very close to each other. What i think is better is that every star should appear next to each other but having a small distance. With this thing done, the users will be able to make a better and more obvious line made by stars. I am sending you also an image in order to make more clear what I am trying to say.
Please tell me what do you think. Thank you!

Hi again Areti. I think the comments on the wiki page are probably not the best place to try and have a discussion. If you could subscribe to the tuxpaint-devel (or tuxpaint-users) mailing list, it'd be a more appropriate place to chat.

That said, for the stars brush, you're probably right that it makes more sense to space them out, and this can be done easily by making an adjustment to (or adding, if one doesn't exist) the brush's configuration file. See https://tuxpaint.org/docs/en/html/EXTENDING.html#brush_options

    Hello again,

I was trying to send a message to the devel list but the email can't be delivered. i don't know what's going on, so I decided to send me message here.

In the latest version of tux paint i thing I found something weird (I thing it can be found in other versions but the version 0.9.27 is the one that I have in my PC). I was testing the erasers and especially the circle ones.
When I select a circle eraser, the shape of the eraser that is appeared on the sheet is square. However, the shape that is erased is circle but that is not the same shape as it is appeared. I am sending you screenshot in order to make it clear.
Let me know what your opinions are.
    Thank you!

    Hello,
I am trying to send messages to the devel and users list but my emails can't be delivered no matter what I do or how many times I try to send them. What can I do in order to communicate with the users and the developers?
    Thank you
