I wrote a makefile to make things easier (see attached). I tried to e-mail the maintainer for inclusion in the RPM (put under /etc/tripwire) but the mails bounce. anyway, after installing the RPM, you can do:

# cd /etc/tripwire
# make init

and that will take care of creating the keys (it will prompt as usual), doing --init and --check and will also --update --accept-all (because the first check fails with the creation of the database). also, it will clean up the policy file from references to files that don't exist in the system (which causes a ton of warnings). later you can do:

# cd /etc/tripwire
# make edit-cfg
or
# make edit-pol

which will bring up vi to edit the files (after running twadmin to get them) and after quitting vi (presumably saving the file) then:

# make

will make the changes and remove the text files. Also:

# make update

will bring up the most recently generated report for review and approval. anyone with feedback can mail me at: e@arix.com + docs are in the file itself.
