Preview -> Cache size doesn't change or commit. For folks with less RAM TeXstudio uses 512 MB cache as default and the feature to change it doesn't appear to work.
There's been a bug that image size has been calculated incorrectly so that the actually cached images may exeed the specified size -> fixed (hg 5681 (eb85eb643ccf)).
As a workaround for TXS <= 2.10.4, you may set the cache limit a factor of 3 smaller than the actually desired limit.
Please note also that the cache size is a limit per viewer and changes will only apply to new viewers (so you have to close and reopen it to see an effect).
