I have just updated to version 2.9.0 and the tex files that used to work fine are now not working when I click 'Build and View' I am getting this strange error: 'Error: One command expansion invalid.'

Downgraded back to version 2.8.8 and it works fine.

I am using Windows 7.

what jus set for "build and view" in your options ?
