    Hello everyone,

Been using TeXlipse for a few weeks and am pretty happy with it. But today when I try to open a tex file I'm getting the following error:

Could not open the editor: The editor class could not be instantiated. This usually indicates a missing no-arg constructor or that the editor's class name was mistyped in plugin.xml.

The details show a stack trace that I'm reproducing below. It seems something is missing, either from the plugin itself or in the system. I upgraded to Ubuntu 11.10 2 weeks ago and every day dozens of packages get upgraded, could one of these upgrades be tampering with TeXlipse?

This is going on with Indigo and TeXlipse 1.4.2. Thanks for the help.

Ok, I now understand there are two sub-fora, and that this message should belong to the Help sub-forum. If it is possible I'd request the admins to move this message there.

Thank you and my apologies for the mess up.

  • It seems that something was deleted from your system, since the java classes could not be found:

    Caused by: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/eclipse/ui/editors/text/templates/ContributionContextTypeRegistry

Maybe a reinstall of eclipse and texlipse helps.

    Thanks for the help Boris.

I uninstalled Texlipse and then re-installed and now its all back to normal. Any ideas how this apparent corruption of Texlispe may have occurred?

    Best.
