Category: TEK Client Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 2 Submitted By: Bill Thies (billthies) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Trying to save a page gives error Initial Comment: If you try to save a page (either File->Save As or Right Click->Save Target As), you get an error: The link could not be saved. The web page might have been removed or had its name changed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Kailainathan Thayaparan (kthaya) Date: 2006-08-11 22:14 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1394129 I could save any pages by following procedure. Anyway our client machine should contain firefox(not customized) browser. Initially i have opened mozilla firefox. Then i have changed proxy(127.0.0.1) and port number (11111). Then i accessed(when TEK client running) the url http://tek/. After that we can save any pages. i analyzed the configuration differents between firefox and customized firefox. But difficult to find different. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=497499&aid=1479816&group_id=61513 |

Or (using Scirus) search for "mba programs", click on "top ranked programs at thunderbird" and get "page does not exist". As a possibly related bug, search for "cartoon network" (under Scirus) gives an untitled, empty, exception-throwing event. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Bill Thies (billthies) Date: 2006-04-25 23:07 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=574184 To replicate this bug, you need to use the Scirus version of TEK (which searches with the Scirus search engine). You could not replicate it because you were using the Google version of TEK. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Mahendrakumar.S (mahendrakumar) Date: 2006-04-25 23:04 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1395154 The search for "mba programs" does not give a result called "top ranked programs at thunderbird". Category: TEK Client Group: None >Status: Closed Resolution: None Priority: 9 Submitted By: Bill Thies (billthies) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: NOT terms don't work Initial Comment: There is something broken with the parsing of "NOT" terms in the local search results. The server seems to recognize the right query, but searching for not terms locally will never bring up results. Note that it works fine if you just use the plain search form, but precede the not term with minuses, as with google syntax: "united states presidents" -bush The bug lies in the complicated construction/parsing of NOT's in the client. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Bill Thies (billthies) Date: 2005-12-03 11:58 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=574184 Fixed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Bill Thies (billthies) Date: 2005-11-25 11:49 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=574184 Here are some more details. I suspect the bug is in the function: tek.client.proxy.proxymain.SocketHandler.termToHtml or in the way that it is called within the same file. Generally, this function is trying to convert a terms from the form: "united states presidents" NOT bush into a form: "united states presidents" -bush But it is complicated by possible quotation marks in the not terms, for example: "united states presidents" NOT "george bush" should be converted to "united states presidents" -"george bush" There is a related function here: tek.client.proxy.query.QuerySearchHandler.getNOTterms() It's relationship to the above function should be clarified (I have not investigated it yet). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=497499&aid=1337795&group_id=61513 |

I was unsuccessful in trying to expand this array in Oracle, as it is a user-defined data type rather than just a table. Current manual solution is to break the user's query into two, keeping the same query ID, and also to email the user to limit themselves to 10 at a time. Breaking up queries probably doesn't completely work due to conflicting query ID's in the server. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=497499&aid=1023441&group_id=61513 |

Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. With many thanks for your participation, Benno Luthiger PS: The results of the survey will be published under http://www.isu.unizh.ch/fuehrung/blprojects/FASD/. We have set up the mailing list fa...@we... for this study. Bugs item #933853, was opened at 2004-04-12 15:31 Message generated for change (Tracker Item Submitted) made by Item Submitter You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=497499&aid=933853&group_id=61513 Category: TEK Client Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 7 Submitted By: Bill Thies (billthies) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Sometimes command is null in login, get NullPointerException Initial Comment: This is a non-deterministic bug that I currently can't duplicate on my machine. I thought I fixed it with the 1.2.1, but apparently not. A user from Canada and Mexico have both reported the bug. Here are the specs on the machine the Canadian is using: This is a Celeron 4 50MHz computer running Win98, not Win2000, with 192MB RAM and 49% system resources free. He is running Netscape. It might be an issue only with Netsacpe? The bug looks like this: java.lang.NullPointerException at tek.client.proxy.proxyutils.TEKCommands.executeCommand(TEKCommands.ja va:70) at tek.client.proxy.proxymain.SocketHandler.handleTEKUrl(SocketHandler.j ava:349) at tek.client.proxy.proxymain.SocketHandler.run(SocketHandler.java:95) and prevents a successful login. It doesn't seem to be a show-stopper since he is successfully using TEK with a different browser. Hard to debug without reproducing. Might have to slow down machine to test / debug -- I think it's some kind of race condition in the browser / proxy communication. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=497499&aid=933853&group_id=61513 |

Feature Requests item #866900, was opened at 2003-12-29 00:22 Message generated for change (Tracker Item Submitted) made by Item Submitter You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=497502&aid=866900&group_id=61513 Category: TEK Server Group: None Status: Open Priority: 6 Submitted By: Bill Thies (billthies) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Add support for images Initial Comment: A user is requesting that we include images in the results, because (for example) mathematical texts are empty without the equations. This functionality seems to be mostly in place, except for a way to indicate the preference for images on the client side. However, when I manually toggle the Images tag in the TEK query email from "false" to "true", the Server hangs upon doing the first download. It needs to be manually terminated and restarted. I haven't investigated this -- we should figure out what's going on. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=497502&aid=866900&group_id=61513 |
