DesiredBehavior:
When I call socket to try to connect to a server, if the server is not running
then it takes a while to time out (at least 30 seconds). My program needs to
connect to a lot of servers repeatedly. Is there any way I can get socket to
return at a configurable time interval if the server is not responding?
This is a system level timeout, so that DNS has enough time
to root out the IP of a named server.
