I made another compile/test run on NFS mounted filesystem.
Some of othe tests previously failing passed now! The
original report was based on source tree in AFS filesystem.
I ran the test as AFS administrator, so there shouldn't be
messages like permission denied. However, I see that
compiling/testing on NFS mounted disk as 'root' :( gives a
bit better result. ;)
I'll try to attach make_test2.log. Run diff on them and see
the differences.

can you re-file this as several
reports, please. one report per
*.test file that has failed tests?
Then we can assign each report
to the proper maintainer more easily.
