true, I've done a little research into this. It looks like
without some sort of audio loopback built into the hardware
it will require hooking the sound card at a pretty low level
to grab the sounds that are playing. I've done that sort of
thing before but its not easy. Maybe i'll have to look a
little closer.

can't you just use whatever source is selected in windows as recording device? especially 'stereo mix'?
