Localization in SUE

Here's a short update on our localization status.
Thanks to a handful of volunteers, we're able to provide a few preliminary localizations apart from English and German. As they out-date rather quickly, we welcome anyone willing to contribute - either in updating an existing localization or in creating a new one! Please drop us a line if you're interested!

Here's a rather short job description in SF.net's "Help wanted" section: https://sourceforge.net/people/viewjob.php?group_id=232157&job_id=33034... read more

SUE translated to Hungarian

A preliminary translation of SUE to Hungarian is now available. Along with the Hungarian voice in eSpeak, maybe someone in Hungary would like to do some testing?

SUE 0.3 branched

We have branched SUE in order to reflect our first prototype. Version 0.3 supports desktop access and email processing using Evolution. It also chooses its voices according to the espeak default language.
With the second prototype (text processing and web browsing), which is scheduled towards the end of the year, users will be able to choose the voices themselves.

SUE now available on SourceForge.net

SUE: Screenreader & Usability Extensions is now available on SourceForge.net

Our first prototype supporting the GNOME desktop and Evolution as an email client can now be pulled from SVN. We would like to encourage people to try SUE and tell us what they think.
If you need any help, please do not hesitate to ask via the mailing list or the help forum.

Currently we are getting started on the second prototype which will provide support for text processing in OpenOffice and allow browsing the web using Firefox.
Meanwhile some minor changes in the platform's architecture are made to make it more efficient and to make more clear where the platform ends and the screen reader components start. Research on the Usability Extensions continues.
We are also working on providing useful documentation and instruction on how SUE works, how to set up SUE on your system and how to best use it. Please stay tuned!
