Hi there
I hope I'm posting this at the right place. I was
given one of these "no-name" brand webcams recently (it
actually carries the name AIM, which is the inhouse
brand name of a big local supermarked chain).
The problem is that I can not download the images to my
PC. When attaching the camera to my system, it is
detected immediately and shows up in
/proc/bus/usb/devices. _gphoto2_ recognizes it as an
Argus DC-1510.
I initially tried using _GTKam_ It shows the camera,
and also displays the correct number of pictures taken,
each named as _picmn.ppm (where _mn_ are digits).
However, when I try to view or save the images, I get
the following error message in a pop-up window titled
"Out of memory" :
Could not get 'pic01.ppm' from folder '/'
I tried running _gphoto2_ from the command-line, but I
get a similar error:
*** Error (-3: 'Out of memory') ***
I enabled the "debug" option and attach the relevant
output here as 'gphoto2_debug.txt' This file also
lists the contents of /proc/bus/usb/devices.
I use Mandrake 9.2 (kernel 2.4.22-21mdk).
I may also mention that I eventually opened the camera
to obtain some information on the chip. The chip is
labeled as follows:
SQ905 - PVQ
0351-0109
FHL 2K
Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards
