QtCreator + MinGW can now fully replace MSVC

After porting SD to MinGW under Windows some weeks ago, there was still one little missing bit in the way of getting rid of MS Visual Studio for comfortably developing SD under Windows : the IDE side (remember, only the "MSYS Makefiles" CMake generator was supported).
Now, it's done, after adding support for the "MinGW Makefiles" CMake generator : you can now open the root CMakeLists.txt of SD into QtCreator and enjoy a full-fledged, modern and lightning-fast IDE.

You can now build with MinGW under Windows

If you are of the ones who have always dreamed of getting rid of MS compilers ... you might be interested in trying MinGW (from http://www.mingw.org/\) : Speed Dreams now builds with GCC 4.7.0 under Windows, and it runs faster on some hardware configurations (than when built with MSVC 2005). Update your SVN trunk sandbox, and read the instructions in INSTALL.txt !

Speed Dreams releases its first release candidate for 2.0.0

Great progress since the Beta 1 of our Open Source Motorsport Simulator featuring HQ 3D graphics and accurate physics for maximum realism.
We are now close to the finish line !
* Don't forget your sun glasses for the new "shinning" menu style, with great new track previews
* Enjoy the great final physics setups for USR and Simplix AIs for all official HQ car sets (28 fine-tuned cars),
* All cars now have great liveries and preview images in the Driver and Car Select menus),
* 21 reworked tracks for really HQ graphics
* Final setups for Kilo2008 for TRB1 Taipan and Cavallo,
* Bunches of graphics candy for many tracks,
* Many bug fixes everywhere,
* New command line options for straight starting of a given race, with or without a GUI (suitable for headless computers, for robots tuning, as an ex.).
Happy racing !

3rd Alpha release for our future 2.0.0

One more step towards 2.0.0 :
* final Simu v2.1 physics engine,
* work-in-progress full rework of car / robots setups, for more realism : only the MP5 car is actually done ; the LS1 are currently not very drivable (WIP) ; the TRB1 won't be changed, and seem OK, apart for the WIP robot setups ; nothing has even been started on the Supercars side.,
* improved support for the weather simulation on the graphics and base physics side, even if no robot is really ready for this yet (WIP),
* final race configuration menu system, after a mainly technical rework, but also end-user improvements (see the Car Select menu, and its nice data-sheet),
* more HQ reworked tracks and cars (guess which ones ;-).
* many bug fixes (the stabilization work has been started),
* unfortunately nothing more on the network gaming side : we'll probably not include it in 2.0.0, unless a miracle ;-).
More details in the release notes.

The final 1.4.0 is out !

As already previewed in the RC in late march, enjoy the visually improved menus, the new LS1 car set ... and many other polished details everywhere in tracks and car liveries !
Source and binary packages are now available for Linux Mandriva 2010, thanks to Xavier ... (of course, with the obvious Windows binary installer and source tar ball) !
