This is because the sky dome is drawn in a position relative to the moving camera position (normally the driver in the car). This is fine for an ego shooter, but not to make nice of a race. For us, the sky dome should be in a fixed position to the track. We know (or can estimate) the radius we have to use here, because the track is known.
