Thanks to our forum user mtxd a potential security issue has been
identified in SPAW Editor PHP Edition v.2. We have released a hotfix
2.0.8.1 release which addresses the issue.

Users of previous versions can download a simple 1 file hotfix only release.

It is compatible with all 2.0.x versions. We strongly recommend you to
apply this hotfix to all your SPAW v.2 installations.

We've released version 2.0.8 of SPAW Editor (both PHP and ASP .NET editions). This release adds an option to start editor in read-only mode + a couple bug fixes.

Version 2.0.7 of both ASP.NET and PHP editions of SPAW Editor has been released.

The main focus of this release was reworking of the style application algorithm
combining good parts of the ways this was done in SPAW 1.x and SPAW 2 and getting
rid of the bad. Other bugs were fixed, workarounds implemented and new features
added.

We have released all of our plugins ported for ASP.NET Edition a couple of days ago and we are releasing additional themes simultaneously with this release.

We have just released SPAW Editor v.2.0.6. This is the first simultaneous release of both PHP and .NET editions. Though .NET edition still has RC (release candidate) moniker due to unfinished documentation, not ported themes and plugins and other minor side issues. But generally both editions are now totally equivalent in terms of features and user experience.

Globally this release adds CSS class setting in image properties dialog and quick links in hyperlink dialog. It also fixes a long standing bug when invalid HTML was causing content to multiply under IE each time you resubmit it (or
switch to HTML). Lots of smaller bugs were fixed too and several language files were added and updated.... read more

- FEATURE ADDED: Quick links in hyperlink dialog
- BUGFIX: Text property wasn't updated when SPAW was used with MasterPages, etc.
- BUGFIX: paths were not correctly calculated when SPAW was used in applications
residing in web site root directory
- BUGFIX: it wasn't possible to use SPAW when session state was stored in State
Server or SQL Server (non-serializable data was stored in Session)
- BUGFIX: on some installations there was "The Controls collection cannot be
modified because the control contains code blocks (i.e. <% ... %>)." exception
generated in all dialogs.
- INTERNAL CHANGE: only "secure" configuration settings are saved in Session now
- LANGUAGE FILES FIXED: html entities were not defined in Spanish, Brazilian

We have just released version 2.0.5 of SPAW Editor PHP Edition. This is a “wide” release of version 2.0.5 beta which introduced Safari 3 support a couple of weeks ago.

In addition to new features in 2.0.5 beta this release fixes a bug in dialogs with RTL languages such as Hebrew and Arabic. In case you’re already using v.2.0.5 beta and don’t use RTL languages, there’s no need to upgrade.

v.2.0.5 is availabe for immediate download.

There was quite an ugly bug in XHTML rendering engine in version 2.0.4 where closing quotes on src and href attributes were missing. So we've made a quick bugfix release which solves that bug. Both full version and upgrade (which is only one javascript file) are available for download through our download page at

We have just released version 2.0.4 of SPAW Editor PHP Edition.

We have released version 2.0.2 of SPAW Editor PHP Edition a little earlier than
planned. The main reason for this rush is that we have made a new lightweight
"spaw2lite" theme and it uncovered a small bug in the theming subengine of
earlier versions which made it impossible to release spaw2lite for the current
SPAW2 version.

So we assembled all the accumulated fixes to date, made a few more quick

It fixes a couple of bugs, adds code cleanup feature for Gecko based browsers
and adds Latvian language file.

We have just released 1.2.2 version of SPAW Editor PHP Edition. This is just a service release. It fixes two small but serious bugs: 1) when xhtml mode is on, class attribute wasn't rendered
under IE; 2) changes made in code editing (html) mode were not saved under Gecko.

The long awaited Gecko compatible version of SPAW Editor PHP Edition has been released. As you may have noticed it's named 1.1 Beta. This means it wasn't thoroughly tested and some features are still missing. So far it was tested only on
Firefox 1.0 on Windows and it seems to work ok. It should work fine on IE cause we tried not mess with IE code alot.
