MRO HiRise Image Markers in SDW GeoServer

The SDW GeoServer is now displaying MRO HiRise markers of Mars image locations.

See this link ... http://tinyurl.com/66qm46

If the server is offline (it's running on a homesite at the moment) then check this wiki page for a screenshot of the SDW Open Layers map...

The markers are taken from a feed published by the MRO team which SDW GeoServer will soon update from on a regular basis to include newly released images.

With some more development work the serving of the markers will be optimised and placed on a map of Mars including popups and links to MRO image pages. From there development will continue with constructing a way to comment directly onto the map which will include some of the MRO Jpeg2000 images.

If anyone is interested in this project in any way then you are welcome to give some feedback to us. If you are a GIS or Web 2.0 programmer then we need developers. If you are a space or exploration enthusiast or just like the social aspects of the web then get involved. SDW will combine the best aspects that make MySpace and other social sites so fun into a space exploration environment.
