Options to choose start a new game or save and quit are not consistently available. App data must be cleared in order to start a new game.
Nexus 4, Paranoid Android ROM 4.6, Android version 4.4.4
Screenshot shows the options menu as available for this game but times this option doesn't appear. It might be related to the PIE option in this particular ROM.
Thank you for your interest in SolitaireCG, and for logging the problem and providing a screen shot.
In the screen shot I can see four "soft buttons" contained in the arch on the right-hand side of the screen. Normally the button with the three dots "..." will bring up the game menu.
What happens when you press the three dots soft button?
Is the three dots soft button sometimes missing, or does it sometimes fail to bring up the game menu?
On my Motorola Moto G 2nd Generation device with a stock Android 4.4.4 image the three dots soft button displays the menu with: New Game, Restart, Deal, Options, Save&Quit, and More. See attached screen shot.
Hi Stephen. So far I have been unable to reproduce the problem you experienced.
Recently I released a new version (2.0.1) with high resolution graphics, which required an increase in the minimum required Android API to 1.6.
Would you be able to try this new solitairecg-2.0.1 release to see if the issue remains?
Thanks, Curtis
A work around for this issue has been commited to the git repository for inclusion in the next release of SolitaireCG. See:
[c492ac] Add long press on bottom center of screen to invoke alternate menu
PROBLEM: Some devices or Android versions do not provide a menu button
in either hardware or software. Further some Android
versions that have the software menu button seem to open and
instantly close the menu. These problems prevent the user
from accessing the various game menu options.
SOLUTION: Use a long press to invoke an alternate context menu.
A caret "^" has been placed at the bottom center of the screen as a
clue where to long press. Further, recognition of the long press is
limited to this general area. The goal is to avoid confusion of the
alternate menu popping up with touch events on other areas of the
screen, such as on facedown cards.
