It would be nice to see a OS X port of smplayer, since it is available for Windows and various flavors of Linux.

I too would like to see an os x port since the current mplayerosx gui is much like the native windows one, very little control or options without cli interaction.

I've managed to compile smplayer on OSX. It build cleanly on qt-mac 4.3. As I'm not really into macosx app development I cant make proper .app with Resources yet but will try my best to do something about it and at least release it as an unnoficial port. The biggest problem at the moment is that -slave is not really working as it should and i always get separate mplayer window. The rest after few tweaks works perfectly.
