#574 SMPlayer 0.8.5 Automatic Update Check Fails

The recently added (to v0.8.4+) version update check FAILS.
(a) it returns Incorrect data, by claiming that older v0.8.4 is (somehow) newer than my installation of this week's release of v0.8.5.
(b) and there is no way to turn off the automatic update checking, no preference setting.
I do not want the software I install to be constantly checking for updates. (It's a bad situation if I need to resort to control that stuff by putting in a firewall rule to block the app.)
Env: SMPlayer 0.8.5
Windows XP Pro SP3, 2 GB RAM.
The problem should be fixed now.
It's possible to disable the checks for updates, edit smplayer.ini and in the section [update_checker] put enabled=false
