Monks are encouraged to be vegetarians, I assume because many variations of Buddhists are vegetarian. From what I understand, items like leather are often also discouraged by these same groups.
Therefore monks should not be generated with leather gloves; maybe otherwise identical "pleather gloves" could provide an amusing alternative?
Or maybe monks could have a 2.3% chance at receiving a different pair of gloves. Like Gauntlets of Swimming, or Power, or Dexterity, or may be Gauntlets of Fumbling on the new moon. (same ac bonus when added to starting equipment)
I did this with the air mage, I just created a:
define monk_gloves
monk_gloves
switch (rnd(8)) { case 1 some gloves
case 2 some othergloves
the monk_book code is there, just copy paste and change it to rnd(8) <or however="" many="" gloves="" you="" want=""> and change books to gloves doubling up or so on leather gloves so there is a much higher chance at leather gloves.
