Causes of the second are that the server has rejected your authentication, which usually results in an AuthenticationException being thrown. It is also possible that there is a bug in your implementation. If you want to compare your implementation against the console project or the example project included with the package and look for obvious differences that would probably help you out. If none of that helps you then please include a small complete sample of what you are trying to do...something that you can fit into a Main method and use one csc command to compile would be awesome and we can go from there. I try to execute a checkout with the following commands: myCVSServerConnection.Connect(myWorkingDirectory, passwordstring) myCheckout.Execute(myCVSServerConnection) and i get the error message: "Unable to write data to the transport connection" when it tries to write to a stream, while executing a connection.SubmitRequest method. I don't know where to look for the problem, have I set something wrong in the connection? Please give me a hint as to what could produce this kind of error. It would be a great help. I am not sure if it is a problem but it might give me some context. To change the version of SharpZipLib that you are using you would just replace the SharpZipLib in the lib folder with whatever version you would rather use - if you are getting the warning while compiling. I have commited a patch that should fix this but if you move your checked out folder into a path without spaces that would work too. If you just want to download the built application just click on the Integration link off the main page: http://sharpcvslib.sourceforge.net/. The link was down this weekend due to server problems (cat knocked the plug out of the wall :-)) but it should be good to go now. Just run the InstallBuilder.bat file in the project root, it will add a shortcut to the application to your desktop. If you are using ssh then you should set this to ssh, if you are using the TortoiseCvs suite/ putty you should set this to plink. Also if you are using the putty/ plink suite you might have to make sure that you are running pageant with your key installed there....to test that all this is working you should be able to checkout/ update without entering your password. Beyond making sure that you are able to ssh into the machine you are interested in without using a password there aren't any other considerations you need to make. There are no specific changes you need to make in your code to get ext protocol working so the examples app should work. Logging is setup in the [AppName.ext].config files, there is a configuration section for log4net that specifies file location, etc. What is probably going on is the logging is set to ERROR where you most likely want to increase this to DEBUG (see: http://tinyurl.com/cnjka line 60). The error I'm getting is an AuthenticationException thrown from the ExtProtocol.cs class method: ExitShellEvent. I have checked that my setup is correct and that I can manually log in and check out a module using ssh on my cvsnt repository. What happens it that the console window appears and then immediately closes again, and that's when the Exit event is sent from the process and the authentication exception is thrown. I've tried to use the example application that comes bundled with the 0.36 release but I get the same results. By the way...I've only been programming c# for a couple of months and I haven't had the time to look into the log4net api, so if someone could give my some instructions on where the logs are kept or how I can append a logger for the console I would be very thankful. What I really would want to know is what the commands executed look like...or event better, some example code that shows a working example of using ssh (ext). Basically it just involves registering handlers for the message output. For the second piece, have you traced through the UpdateCommand.Execute method to see what is actually being sent to the server? Also does the getConnection method set the WorkingDirectoy that you are building up? You should alternatively be able to just add the Files/ Directories that you want to update to the UpdateCommand.Folders object. If there is still an issue can you send a small repro to the developers list?
