I downloaded the most recent version of the file and tried to open it with Excel (updated) and OpenOffice (updated). Neither could open the file and both froze as they made the attempt and needed to be force closed and reopened.

Newest version works fine for me. You may have a corrupted download. Also this spreadsheet is VERY CPU INTENSIVE. I have a Core i5 overclocked and 8 GB of RAM and it takes some time for this thing to open. On slower machine it may take even longer.

The file does not work with OpenOffice. And works best in Office 2010.

Anon is correct. It won't work with OO. Blue Canary has said in the past that if he were to ever start the project over, he would like to have that functionality but with it being this far in and this much done; I don't think that will ever happen.

I have a similar setup to the first anon poster (Intel Core i5, 12G RAM), but after redownloading etc., checking for excel updates (Excel 2010), version 6.21.0.0 continues to hard lock my machine. Sometimes I can get it open, but then switching tabs causes the problem.

And on my laptop, same story. Perhaps the problem is using 64-bit windows?

Oh my. My labtop is several years old with Windows Vista 32 bit and Office 2007. Dual core processor and 4 GB ram.
Version 6.10.0.0 works fine but very slow.
The new version 6.21.0.0 also makes my computer freeze as experienced by others.
I'd really like something to be done,so I may use sCoreforge again.
