Are there any plans to support Windows Vista?
Currently I have found the following isues trying to run current beta 7 on Vista RC1:

- MSI setup fails. I installed MSI content manually (registering DLLs, modifying shell entry, registering DLLs, etc.) from a working XP to continue testing.

- Captions are not shown when using Aero theme. It its shown when using "Vista Classic" theme, but X offset adjustment is needed (final text and icon go under minimize button)

- Shim only runs fine when configured to run explorer shell as priviledged process.

- When configured to run as normal user, or when using Shim Run dialog to run as normal, all programs that run unpriviledged just crash. The errors in the event log looks like the following:

Source: Application Error
EventID: 1000
Level: Error
Description:
Faulting application notepad.exe, version 6.0.5600.16384, timestamp 0x44f54978, faulting module tiptsf.dll, version 6.0.5600.16384, timestamp 0x44f55871, exception code 0xc0000005, offset 0x0001b1c5, process ID 0xdbc.

It seems related to my previously reported issues with Tablet PC components on XP, as the tiptsf.dll module is part of Ink components that are also running on my tablet now with Windows Vista RC1. Don't know yet if Shim would work on non-tablet hardware. I hope I can test it in near future.

Hope this info is helpful, I'm willing to turn off Vista "Low User Access" anoying feature and replace it back with Shim!!! )

Thank you for the informations. I plan to test and make RAA able to run under vista but currently no time for it, sorry!
May be in the next year :(

What would be the point of running RAA under Vista?
That feature already exists with UAC.

I'm using Vista a few weeks ago and here are some reason I'd like to see RAA in Vista better than UAC:

    - UAC IS very ANNOYing
    - No visual feedback about the rights you have in the window you are using
    - Still have problems with the profile handling in Vista when you choose 'Run As Administrator'
    - I have little knowledge of UAC but RAA seems to me much more felexible in the way you can configure automatic rights a program might have at it's startup

I'd like to use RAA under Vista and as I can see now from the feedbacks I'm not alone :D

With Beta 8 RAA now can be setup with our new ISS setup and runs nicely on vista.
Current known limitations under vista are :
    - Privilege caption info not supported yet.
    - Beta 8 introduce a fix for 'Could not shutdown from the shell' problem. That fix is not working on Vista, so we have to use currently the original win API SaferCreateLevel to produce the normal user token, which has no shutdown privilege, so under vista you still have to use a shutdown tool.

Beta9 now solves the shutdown problem but still has no privilege caption information in the Aero theme.
