#5 Dumps core when using search under rails

This could be a rails problem, but...

I'm using Ruby/LDAP to provide authentication against
an Active Directory for a rails application.

When I search (which works fine under irb) it exits
with this error:

ruby: error.c:257: ldap_parse_result: Assertion `(
(ld)->ld_options.ldo_valid == 0x2 )' failed.
Aborted (core dumped)

I've experienced this too, however it works fine in IRB, fails when running the
rails application and only fails on x86, 64-bit Linux. Works just fine on my Mac,
both running Ruby 1.8.4
