First off, I am not affiliated with this project, other than being a happy user.
I first used rolodap (with success). We grew. We needed more functionality, so we switched to phpgroupware. They are quite slow in development, so we once again switched. http://www.egroupware.org/ is a really cool spin-off of phpgroupware.
We are still using some of the same data, that has been inputed with rolodap.
egroupware basically let's you manage your contacts and user's with ldap. you also have a calendar (stored in a Database). Maybe some of you might fancy a look?
Cheers
