RivalBB Update

No, RivalBB is not dead. Infact, it is very much alive and progressing nicely. I would estimate that about 15% of the underlying code is working or in development. I have completed a basic setup script and the HTML portion is looking pretty.

Two new developers have joined the project, but do not have sourceforge ids. It seems that we will not be using sourceforge for most of the project, as most of its services were not developed to be friendly in a windows enviornment. I still cannot figure out CVS for the life of me.... read more

Developers, check your mailboxes

I have just sent a message through our dev mailing list that contains lots of important info. This includes how we're going to upload files with this project (no CVS).

The email was sent to the address you initially used to contact me. If you're a developer and didn't receive this email, I probably forgot to put you on the list or have the wrong address. Send me an email and we'll straighten things out.

The mission of the RivalBB will be to produce an opensource bulletin board similar to UBB and vBulletin. Many such projects have failed because the creators did not have the technical skills required to complete the task. I assure you, I'm up to the challenge. Infact, I have singlehandedly created a bulletin board system using only notepad. The problem with it was that it was slow, and relied heavily on database calls. RivalBB will overcome this pitfal through caching technology that I have created. Database calls will be to a minimum.... read more
