cat /sys/bus/pci/drivers/ipw2*00/*/rf_kill
push the button/switch
cat /sys/bus/pci/drivers/ipw2*00/*/rf_kill
check the values, i they are different (0 VS 2) then your switch is working.
If it doesn't change values try acerhk, fsam7400, pbe5, av5100 and do the test again. With some of these drivers you need to echo "1" > /proc/some_file to enable the wireless radio switch.
