Rflex_HW2

Stefan Simis

We've redesigned the Rflex hardware to be more independent. This v2 hardware is what we continue to use for now. Software updates will also be only for this hardware configuration. Here is what has changed:

  • all sensors connect to a serial-to-ethernet router
  • a microcontroller (Arduino) listens for serial commands and generates TTL signals for motor control
  • because everything is now ethernet connected, adding a network router is all that is needed to control the sensors and motor from anywhere on the local network.
  • the computer is either placed with the rest of the equipment in the deck box or somewhere else on the ship
  • The three light sensors are now individually connected to the serial-to-ethernet hub. Thus, the software listens for data on 3 virtual com ports
