The compiled 64-bit installer says that it can't find the Python 2.7 path in the registry. As far as I can tell the registry keys identifying python on this 2012 server are identical to a 2008 R2 server that I had no trouble installing pywin32 onto.

    My mistake, the machine is 64-bit but the python installation was 32-bit.
