In short, trying to install pyDev via the eclipse or equinox command line results in a failure that can not be worked around. The root of the problem is the untrusted certificates that pyDev is signed with. There's plenty of reasons to install via command-line, but in our case we're building development environments with a preconfigured group of addons. The Eclipse IDE is never started in this process; it's all machine based.
I believe the benefits of signing with untrusted certificates does not outweigh the cost. If you remove the signing for now, you may be able to begin signing it again once equinox better supports untrusted certs.

Hi Fabio,
This is to follow up your comments in 3024004, as mentioned in this bug,
there are plenty of reasons users may want to install PyDev via command-line.
This definitely is a blocking issue.
If buying a trusted certificates is out of questions, can you consider reverting back to noting signing the plugins?

I am keen to see this fixed as well, for exactly the same reason as Danny. We have a script which sets up a standard Eclipse install for our developers (who are on a variety of platforms). Unfortunately the script cannot include PyDev, since the certificate problem means that it cannot be installed headlessly (you can still install it manually from the IDE, since there you have a prompt to accept teh certificate).

Have you tried asking the guys at Eclipse.org to fix this? (I believe that'd be the 'right' thing -- or not?)
