the -f (freq scrunch) and -t (time scrunch) options used to be the same as the pam -f -t options, and scrunch the number of times specified. Now they scrunch to the given number of sub-ints/bands. Either the help page needs to be updated to the new functionality, or the old functionality needs to be restored.
