Version 0.1.1

Version 0.1.1 has been released. Unfortunately, due to a known issue at SourceForge, the file is not available for download from our project page. If you would like a copy, please email todd_run at yahoo dot com.

The new release includes an additional sample database implemented in Derby. This is the beginning of an "internal database" that will be used for upcoming features.

If you are using an older version of pocOLAP, all configuration files will continue to work. You will need to update your web.xml file however, as all whs_ parameters should be defined for the ConfigurationServlet instead of XTabMain.

Another Developer joins the project

Rashmi Banthia has joined the pocOLAP team. Rashmi will initially be working on incorporating logging into the project. For background information on our newest members qualifications, you can find a resume at www.geocities.com/b_rashmi

Welcome Rashmi!

New GUI is out!

Version 0.1.0 has been released. See the live demo to see the new look and feel.

CVS also contains new documentation which will make using pocOLAP easier. We hope to add this information to our website soon.

Thanks to everyone involved for helping to get this version completed and released!

A new developer

Roderic Campbell is the newest addition to the pocOLAP team. Roderic is planning on updating our javadoc comments prior to our next release.

Welcome Roderic!

On a related note, Srilatha has other obligations that restrict the time available for our project, and has therefore decided to leave us.

Release 0.0.4c

This is a bug fix release, fixing a problem with selecting the same table for columns and rows (which first appeared in 0.0.4a). There are also additional corrrections to the sample database.

Posted by todd runstein 2004-06-24

Another Unplanned Release - 0.0.4b

Apparently, HSQLDB uses 0 as the first digit when assigning identity values. This caused inconsistant data that wasn't noticed until recently. This release fixes that issue.

As was the case with 0.0.4a, this release contains a lot of changes that are incomplete and contains some know bugs. Use 0.0.4b for testing and to help identify bugs, but it is recommended that you not use it for production. If you need a version suitable for production, either wait for version 0.0.5 (should be out by the end of June???) or email one of the developers and we'll get you a copy of 0.0.4.

Posted by todd runstein 2004-06-23

Unplanned release 0.0.4a

It was recently discovered that boolean values in the sample database were not being properly recognized when filters were used. Therefore, this release replaces those sample database files.

There is actually a lot of code that has been updated, but not completely incorporated. If you are using pocolap version 0.0.4 with your own database (in other words, you don't care about the sample database), you may want to continue using that. On the other hand, testing 0.0.4a would be extremely helpful - just make sure you let one of the developers know if you find a problem.

0.0.4 - bugfix release

Version 0.0.4 has been released, fixing a bug that caused an exception in certain situations where fields contained empty strings.

A new helper joins our team

One of the biggest opportunities for improving pocOLAP is the GUI. We'd like to welcome Nicole as a new project member who has provided direction and inspiration for finding a new front end design for our cross tab viewer. Look for design samples and changes to the application to start appearing soon!

Release 0.0.3 and Easier Installation

Release 0.0.3 has been released. Instead of having to run install scripts to set up a sample database, or change configuration files to fit your environment, we've made installation much easier. Simply unzip the distribution, place the war file in your web server and copy a couple of files to either "/tmp" or "C:/", and you've got pocOLAP set up with the sample database.

Installation instructions are included in the distribution. All source code is available through CVS.

Live demo now available!

Go to the Home Page and click "Go to the Live Demo!" link. This will take you to the Mycgiserver site that hosts a live version of pocOLAP. The demo currently uses a very small set of data, but it shows how pocOLAP appears to an end user.

Please note: Mycgiserver is a free/low cost hosting service for Java/J2EE applications. They don't promise 100% uptime, so the demo may not be available at all times. We still consider Mycgiserver to be an invaluable provider - without them, the live demo would never have been possible.

Express - for easier installation

pocolap-express makes installing pocOLAP a breeze. Instead of requiring you to set up and configure a database in MySQL, pocolap-express comes with HSQLDB and database files in the distribution. Just copy the war file to your webapps directory, change a couple of text files, and you'll get a taste of what pocOLAP can provide.

This release does not include any source code, but everything is available in CVS. It is not clear whether future releases will be restricted to pocolap-express - if you have any opinion, please let us know!

Version 0.0.2

pocOLAP version 0.0.2 has been released. This features more filtering options and some minor fixes. There are also some conversion tools intended for use with the MCS live demo.

Posted by todd runstein 2004-02-03

A slight setback

In an attempt to create a live online demo of the application, a deployment was planned on mycgiserver (MCS), a free J2EE hosting service. During preparation, it was announced that MCS could no longer provide free space. Then it was announced that, with the help of JavaLobby, the free space would continue.

So deployment plans that were put on hold were once again activated. After converting the database scripts to work with HSQLDB (first to version 1.7.1, then to the required 1.6.1), uploading the database files and testing the user permissions, it was discovered that the free space is a "shared" application. Basically this boils down to no WEB-INF directory, which means no custom tags. In short, there's no way pocOLAP will run in such a restrictive environment.... read more

pocOLAP initial File Release

Version 0.0.1 has been released. This is bare bones and really rough, but it should be stable.

CVS stats don't appear to be updating correctly, but new code is being added - you can get updated content from CVS at any time.
