I can not get the bitmaps transparent colour set for bit
depths other than 8
It doesn't matter whether I compress or not, nor which
density I use, or whether I use TRANSPARENTINDEX or
TRANSPARENT
The following code, repeating my 2 bpp bitmap, only
results in one bmp with a transparency, the 8bpp one:
BITMAPFAMILYEX ID 4000
BEGIN
BITMAP "BookList-2-d144.bmp" BPP 8 DENSITY
144 TRANSPARENT 170 170 170
BITMAP "BookList-2-d144.bmp" BPP 4 DENSITY
144 TRANSPARENT 170 170 170
BITMAP "BookList-2-d144.bmp" BPP 2 DENSITY
144 TRANSPARENT 170 170 170
BITMAP "BookList-1-d144.bmp" BPP 1 DENSITY
144
BITMAP "BookList-2.bmp" BPP 2 TRANSPARENT
170 170 170
BITMAP "BookList-1.bmp" BPP 1
END

I have experienced the same problem using RGB bitmaps
created with GIMP 2.2. Although this can be worked-around,
it would be really useful if PilRC mapped the transparent
color to white for these bit-depths. That way a single
bitmap file could be used to generate a bitmap family or
icon resource containing all bit-depths.
