I've run tons of other Php applications and they just have a simple Email Verify with an option to automatically approve or moderated approval.
You can't have open ended account creation on anything on the web.
And editing password files by hand is not an option either.
It's a shame PhpWiki works great but the authetication is painful.
I've searched the this forum and I'm not along. Try searching for keyword authentication in this forum.
I'm running on a shared public server, so no access to LDAP, etc.
I'd like users to be able to create accounts on their own. Only if email verified. Optionally approved by me.
