#216 Linebreaks inserted in menus when cache is on

A user reported, that there were a lot of linebreaks
inserted in the generated html-code for the menu, but
only if caching is switched on. If caching is off, the
linebreaks are not present.

Someone should try to reproduce this unwanted output of
linebreaks and then fix it.
