#1 Distribution incomplete?

I am following the installation iunstructions but on
step 3:
Set the compiler to use in geom/Makefile and
mv/Makefile solver/Makefile if different from gcc. Then
type 'make compile' to compile the C modules.

I find there is no Makefile in anye subdirectory and
there is only a Makefile.in on the main direcotry that
doesn't work.
