Most linux file managers lack of the such feature, that will open up the parent
folder and set focus to the file.

By pass in --select command option and the path of file to pcmanfm, it will do so for you. The idea is from KDE Dolphin.
The Nautilus file manager included such feature in recent version too.

The most common scenario for this feature is open the downloaded file
containing folder from browser after [Show in folder].

This might need more amend on xdg-open and the browsers, but this is the first.

    Well, first of all, this is not a bug but a feature request, which is why I move it to another tracker. Secondly, that is not much correct since it would open few tabs for the same folder at once. And finally, there are some other APIs that do selection of file for you.
    Thank you for a suggestion, I hope it could be made in 1.3 version.

    @lstranger
    i know the Dolphin behavior. it was implemented better.
    i have also checked the Nautilus, it behaves like almost the same as my code.

    since i am new to pcmanfm source code, i tried to do that with minimum change to the source. could you please tell me the "other APIs that do selection"?
    i'll try to re-implement this feature.
