Hello,
I’m still using Ubuntu 12.04 (amd64). After a routine system update I noticed the funny behavior I’ll describe below. Thanks to some thorough debugging I identified the problem in parcellite_1.1.9~precise-1ppa1_amd64.deb. If I keep the option “Trim whitespace” on while editing files, whenever I select a region ending in a newline, it deselects itself immediately, making it impossible to copy or delete. This happens in all Gnome editors such as gedit and leafpad, but neither in evolution’s compose-new-mail window nor, of course, in non-Gnome software such as kate. I tried many combinations of options (auto-paste was a big suspect), and I observed that the undesired behavior depends exclusively on “Trim whitespace”, independently of other settings. Turning “Trim whitespace” off enabled be to edit files again and I can live without that option, even if I was accustomed to it. However, I think this is worth reporting.

Greetings and many many thanks for this small but very useful utility.

AFIK, there is no way around this 'feature'. Those applications that monitor the clipboard for changes will always display this behaviour when Parcellite writes something different than what the application placed there.

If you think about it, this makes sense, the application knows whatever is in the clipboard is not what it put there.

You're welcome - I too like this tool - it's why I keep it maintained!
