The size of the buttons (wake on lan, local terminal, preferences etc) in the tabbed view are very large and when using rdp a huge "set keyboard focus" is eating a lot of space in addition. It would be nice maybe to make all those buttons rather small and put them near/next/in the "info" tab button. It would also maybe nice to have the connection manager (left side) be autohiding to make it work like with putty connection manager (wenn mouse is all the way left it will slide into view, ontop of the active tabs ) adding more screen estate.

    Hello!
Please, could you post some screenshots of your PAC? I've never received any complaint about buttons sizes... but I don't discard any misconfiguration for certain environments.
Regarding the "connections tree" to auto-hide, PAC already has an option for that (more or less :) ): goto Preferences -> PAC Main Options -> and check "Auto hide connections list on Terminal open", that will make the connections tree disappear every time you open a connection (to reappear it, click on the most left button at the bottom of the screen or use <Atl>-c

I'm still looking for new ways of redistribution buttons anyway, so, don't give up! :)

Thanks a lot for trying PAC!!!
    - David.

    Hi,

hope the link works, a screenshot of the buttons. This is on my Desk monitor, here it is not such an issue since it is big anyway but on my laptop I only have 900 Pixels to use and there it matters more.

The autohide is already working for me (now you mentioned it :) ) but the alt-c does not seem to work for me (no need to investigate on my side) , the mentioned button does work of course. A "auto appear" when moving mouse all the way left would still be nice of not too much work.

Also great many thanks for making this product, I have been using it for a long time now and all the features you have added sofar are amazing and really adding to productivity.

    Hi David,

My 2 cents regarding buttons redistribution:

    a) i'd remove the buttons above the "Connection tree" since the functionality already exist when you right-click over selected Group

    b) remove the "Clusters Admin" and "PCC" and implement it as per feature request 3489385

    c) Move the "Connect" button to the right-click Group connection and maybe split it into "Connect" which should be available for each connection and "Connect all" which should be available under Group so when it pressed it will connect to all connection under the Group.

d)move the "Launch new local shell" to the left hand side close to "Start interactive search" button (instead of Connect)

    e) move the "Show/ hide local tree panel" to the left hand side under "Start interactive search" & "Launch new local shell"

    f) move all the other buttons like "Wake on Lan", Save, Quit etc to the top instead of the buttons removed at option a)

In this way you'll maximize the terminal screen.

    Thanks,
    Dani

    Hello David, Varu06,

I agree with Varu but do not understand E, how would you reach "Show/ hide local tree panel" if the Local tree panel was hidden? Also the "set keyboard focus" should be in view when using rdp unless you can replace the buttons function by clicking on the RDP session window or tab. (not sure what the "set keyboard focus" is for anyway, I mean I always want to be focussed when the pac with rdp is active.)

    Hi!
Alright! Auto-hide, with "mouse-over" appearing has been implemented (wait for next PAC release, please).
Regarding buttons size, the have (or "should" have) the minimal amount of necessary size (the one GTK may request). On my system (Ubuntu 10.10) they are all reasonable small.

Anyway, still working on GUI buttons redesign. Please, have mercy with me and be patience!! :)

    - David.
