(the following message is from Nicolas Morin. I thought it woudl be worth
posting here. --pate)
On Friday 18th of April, Paul Poulain and Nicolas Morin, both members of
the Koha Team, went to Lyon (France), to the French
national school for librarians (ENSSIB), to participate in a workshop
about oss in libraries.
Nicolas, who is a librarian, did a 45mn speech about OSS in libraries
from a librarian point of view. A "general" speech about the possible
uses of oss in libraries,
both non-specific softwares (OpenOffice, Linux, Apache, etc) and
library-specific softwares (MyLibrary and Koha were his two main
examples). The text of his speech can be found (in French) at this
address : http://morinn.free.fr/articles/doua.htm
Then Paul, who is Koha's 2.0 release manager, did his 45mn speech about
Koha and how it works as an open source project: he touched upon the
history of the project, the inner working of the Koha community, the
tools used (irc, cvs), the way ahead, etc.
Outlines of his speech (in French) at this address:

There was then a speech about OpenURL resolvers by someone from the
French company "Archimed" (see http://www.archimed.fr for details about the
company - the text of this intervention not available).
That was it on the program, but Paul Poulain was requested back on stage
by the audience to do a demo of Koha 1.9.2 : it lasted for about 40mn.
Attendance : about 75 people, of which about 50 stayed on for the extra
demo. We think it went down well, and showed there is great
expectations raised in France by OSS4lib in general, and by Koha in
