Exactly... There would be rules for certain accounts and or subject matter, and these rules would purge messages after a set time peroid. Of course you would also need to be able to prevent the rules from executing given circumstances requiring the messages be kept longer (legal matters, etc.).

The company only wants to keep 30, 60 , 90 days of email and then dispose of email over that period of time.
