We've been recently trying to find a good way to bring millions of triangles to the web in a matter of seconds. In the following demo we combined 3 great technologies together:
Vizup 3D optimization - for multi-resolution LOD generation
OpenCTM - for 3D data compression
Three.js - for on-line visualization

Hello,
We've been recently trying to find a good way to bring millions of triangles to the web in a matter of seconds. In the following demo we combined 3 great technologies together:
Vizup 3D optimization - for multi-resolution LOD generation
OpenCTM - for 3D data compression
Three.js - for on-line visualization
The results are quite impressive. Take a look at the examples:
http://vizup.com/demo/webview-cami.html - CAD model, about 2.2M triangles, works nicely even on my old Mac Air.
http://vizup.com/demo/webview-castle.html - LiDAR scan, 2.7Mt, repaird and 10 times reduced by Vizup SDK from original 27Mt mesh
http://vizup.com/demo/webview-teapot-3.5M.html - 3D scan, 3.5 millions - for the full resolution it's better have at least i7 with integrated graphics.
