On Windows, you can delete cells by selecting rows and columns and then typing Ctrl-shift-X. On Mac, the keyboard shortcut is not working, and there is no other UI to implement that action. I am running Firefox 3.0.3 on OS-X Leopard with several add-ons (including google notebook, firebug, foxmarks, del.icio.us) and one of their keyboard shortcuts may be getting in the way.
