If the scanner (and it's driver software) acts as a keyboard and will cause what is scanned to appear in any space that a normal key press would, the answer is YES. As written, OpenBiblio knows nothing of scanners (or keyboards either for that matter). If the characters appear in an input field, OpenBiblio will deal with them. I used a couple of CatScans that Radio Shack used to sell for $20 or so with no problems at all.
