So my advise is to improvise a little.
My experience (from a semi-chaotic school library) is that the overdue problem has become much more manageable just by improving the quality of circulation administration and introducing OpenBiblio overdue letters. When calculation of overdue becomes difficult on many occasions I just ask the student what he or she considers a fair deal. I don't think libraries can florish an a penny-wise approach.

Has anyone worked on this as an integration into the due date function? Holidays and days closed would be a wonderful addition to this program.
