When I try to decrease font size in the note area nothing happens. Usually the font should be resized after entering another font size.

Currently, you need to select an area of text to decrease the font. Simply changing the font without selecting any text doesn't yet work.

I'm unable to recreate this. Is there anything special about the note? Are you using NixNote2 beta 3 ?
