Unfortunately, this data provider does not have mySQL
4.x support. This was not mentioned in the
documentation, which is a BIG downer.

So, I am hoping that the next release will support mysql
4.x since it currently does not. Refuses to connect while
all other data providers work perfectly in that aspect.

It actually supports it (MySQL 4.X)
Copy the libMySQL.dll from the MySQL Server 4.X (Windows
version, of course) to your client computer, and overwrite the
    old one.
This may work with version 5.0...

Yes, I know it but 4.x versions were beta for a long time and I
don't know if the native api is as secure and safe as 3.x
    versions.

    3.0.13 will support it.
