I'd like to be able to filter-out the mvpmc's non-
media directories from the filesystem browser.
There's no reason to list all those extra Unix
directories if there's no media there.

Short of some filtering mechanism, it'd be cool if I
could specify a root directory for the file browser,
such that it would be restricted to the specified root
directory and below.

For example, my current filesystem listing is:

../
Media/
Media/MyMusic/ (mount point)
Media/MyPictures/ (mount point)
bin/
dev/
etc/
lib/
lost+found/
proc/
sbin/
tmp/
usr/

I'd like to specify "/Media" as the file browser root,
such that its initial listing would be:

MyMusic/
MyPictures/

i.e. No "../", and no extraneous Unix directories.

How would you navigate the directories if .. were removed?
The BACK button takes you to the previous menu, not the
previous directory. Or do you just mean that we should
remove the .. from the top directory (or the default
    starting point).

I think having a default starting point in the filesystem is
a good idea. Then there would be no need to filter
anything, since it would be up to the user to create their
directory structure in a usable fashion.

Right, remove ".." from just the top-level, starting point
    directory.

(Though removing ".." is of considerably lower priority, to
me, than having the "starting point" feature -- so could
live w/ the "..", as now, if it means getting the starting
    point feature sooner. :)
