I made no changes to fstab and chmod didn't work when I needed to change file permissions on a set of files that were set to read only after building in msys. After doing some research signs pointed to changing fstab's "noacl" to "acl". Alas this did not work. Reverted the change.
I was attempting to build a finch for MSYS2 as a possible package contribution but I've come to a roadblock. After compiling finch has all the permissions it needs to run but the plugins seem to lack those permissions and are un-detected. Unless I'm wrong and I'm just missing everything because my head is lodged too firmly in my fecal port.
Look into my PKGBUILD for pidgin:

Why do you have python when it's not a dependency?
Yeah, my mistake here.
No surprise I wasted my time bothering with a ticket.
You waste your time because you don't hear that I told you. You just want that someone fix it for you, but I'm developing MSYS2 not finch.
And as I remember, pidgin-2.x don't build fine with mingw, only pidgin-3.x from HG sources.
i'm workin' on pidgin-hg; i built gplugin to enable plugins (i will send it ASAP); and pidgin-hg built; but both the current that the new version (with plugins) hangs on the first window (where you create/enable/disable accounts)
I'll be interested in taking a look. However finch is a libpurple console application. Meaning it doesn't use gtk. Which is something Alex and Ray have overlooked and otherwise ignored from all the links provided.
