Hello! I think I found a bug. I was able to reproduce this on Red Hat Linux 7.1 and 7.2 systems with compiled Mozilla v1.6 and MPlayerplug-in v2.45 (no gtk stuff and used enable-x). Go to http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/troy/ and you will see a clip downloading. While downloading, click on Large link and boom Mozilla crashes! How about you guys? Thank you in advance. :) -- "For every 1 person on earth there are 1 million ants." --Factoid for the video of Adam Ant's "Goody Two Shoes" Pop Up Video /\___/\ / /\ /\ \ Phillip Pi (Ant); The Ant Farm: http://antfarm.ma.cx | |o o| | \ _ / E-mail: ph...@ap...ANT or ph...@ea...ANT ( ) Remove ANT if replying by e-mail through mailing list. |

Phillip, I configured my system down to X mode ./configure --enable-x then built the plug-in I then went to this page and tested it and it worked fine.. I even flipped back and forth. My system Fedora Core 1 Firefox 0.8 Mozilla 1.6 The X interface has really not changed between 2.11 and 2.45 so I'm really not sure what could cause this with the recent release. Did it work in 2.40? or 2.11? Kevin On Wednesday 03 March 2004 02:07 am, Phillip Pi wrote: > Hello! > > I think I found a bug. I notice it only crashes with Troy trailer. If I want until the first buffer finish and click on Large link to buffer again, then no crash. -- "For every 1 person on earth there are 1 million ants." --Factoid for the video of Adam Ant's "Goody Two Shoes" Pop Up Video /\___/\ / /\ /\ \ Phillip Pi (Ant); The Ant Farm: http://antfarm.ma.cx | |o o| | \ _ / E-mail: ph...@ap...ANT or ph...@ea...ANT ( ) Remove ANT if replying by e-mail through mailing list. Phillip, Does the same thing happen with the "The Polar Express" trailer? Anyway, since I can't duplicate it. I'm going to need a log or preferably a valgrind or gdb trace that shows where the crash is occuring. Kevin, I will check. Should I also paste strace's output of the crash? If so, then I will do that later tonight or tomorrow. Kevin, yep for Polar Express! Let it buffer the video before clicking "Large" link. For now, I did a strace -o mozilla http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/troy/ ... I hope this is enough for now. You can grab the zipped strace log from http://home.apu.edu/~philpi/temp/mplayer245-moz16-troy.zip (186 KB; will be deleted later). Please let me know if this isn't enough and I will try the other suggestions in the other e-mail replies. Phillip, Good news, I was able to duplicate the crash... it requires me to run in X mode with a GTK1 widgeted browser... Should be a pretty quick fix now. Philip, Fixed it and commited the change to CVS... Here is what was happening I believe. --enable-x mode In SetupPlayer instance->player_window = XCreateSimpleWindow (but this window was not completed) in DestroyCB called before the video started playing, so mplayer had not started drawing to instance->player_window XDestroyWindow was called on instance->player_window and we got a BadWindow error and it caused mozilla to crash. This same code works fine in mozilla with gtk2, so it has to be something wrong with the GtkSuperWin stuff... Anyway... For the fix: In x mode I no longer create a player_window and don't destroy it... Just like in 2.11 Very tricky to find, even valgrind didn't give me a hint... Had to guess and luckily i made some good guesses... Kevin, Yeah, I get this too, except I don't even have to click on the LARGE link, the page barely loads, then the browser crashes. -Ryan Phillip Pi wrote: > Hello! > > I think I found a bug. Ryan, What kinda system do you have? OS Version? Again, I can't duplicate the error, so if you can send me some debug logs that would help alot. Kevin, FYI: My computer specifications are on http://alpha.zimage.com/~ant/antfarm/about/computers.txt (Athlon XP 2200+ and Intel P3 600 Mhz running Red Hat Linux 7.x). I compiled Mozilla v1.6 from its SRC.RPM (ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mozilla/yum/SeaMonkey/releases/1.6/redhat/9/SRPMS/mozilla-1.6-0.9.0.src.rpm). -- "For every 1 person on earth there are 1 million ants." --Factoid for the video of Adam Ant's "Goody Two Shoes" Pop Up Video /\___/\ / /\ /\ \ Phillip Pi (Ant); The Ant Farm: http://antfarm.ma.cx | |o o| | \ _ / E-mail: ph...@ap...ANT or ph...@ea...ANT ( ) Remove ANT if replying by e-mail through mailing list. galeon_backtrace

Kevin, I have attached the backtrace provided by galeon. I don't know if that will help or not, but I don't really know how to do much else, sorry. I am using the latest mplayerplugin cvs, the latest mplayer cvs, galeon 1.3.9, mozilla rev 1.4. If you need anything else you'll have to let me know what it is and/or how to do it. -Ryan Kevin DeKorte wrote: > Ryan, > > What kinda system do you have? > OS Version? > > Again, I can't duplicate the error, so if you can send me some debug logs that > would help alot. > > Kevin > |

Ryan, I have a few questions. What version of Linux and which distribution? Could you also get a trace using valgrind? Here are the instructions: I think a valgrind trace might really help. To get it: 0) make sure the line debug=1 is uncommented in /etc/mplayerplug-in.conf 1) install valgrind (I am sure that there are plenty of rpms available) 2) cp /usr/bin/mozilla /usr/bin/mozilla.valgrind 3) edit /usr/bin/mozilla.valgrind and change line 191 from exec $MOZ_PROGRAM $MOZARGS 2>/dev/null >/dev/null to exec valgrind $MOZ_PROGRAM $MOZARGS 4) from the command line do mozilla.valgrind >out.log 2>error.log mozilla will start after a while 5) try to reproduce the crash. 6) post the contents of out.log and error.log Best, Alex --- Ryan Bruce <elg...@cs...> wrote: > Kevin, > > I have attached the backtrace provided by galeon. Sorry, my bad. Just copy the mplayerplug-in.conf file from the directory where you compiled mplayerplug-in to either /etc/mplayerplug-in.conf or to ~/.mplayer/mplayerplug-in.conf Then get rid of the # in the first line (so the first line says debug = 1). Thanks, Alex --- Phillip Pi <ph...@ap...> wrote: > Hi guys, > > This is odd. I do NOT have /etc/mplayerplug-in.conf. Doesn't make > install > supposed to install it? This is not odd, when you install from source the mplayerplug-in.conf file is not installed, since it is optional. Also, I need to confirm with you the config options you are using. To me it looks like your mozilla is compiled with the GTK1 widget set (the= =20 GtkSuperWin is a dead giveaway on that). Now that I know that I'll test my= =20 GTK1 version of firefox with the gtk1 and x versions of the plugin. I know= =20 using the GTK2 version of the plugin with GTK1 firefox will cause crashes.= =20 But usually very quick. Try=20 =2E/configure --enabled-gtk1 --with-gecko-sdk=3D{path} The strace didn't do me much good. The valgrind was somewhat useful (yes it is very slow, but can be very=20 helpful) Kevin On Thursday 04 March 2004 02:43 am, Alex Eskin wrote: > Thanks! > > Was there a crash, or was it a normal exit? > > --- Phillip Pi <ph...@ap...> wrote: > > On Thu, 4 Mar 2004, Alex Eskin wrote: > > > Could you also get a trace using valgrind? > > > Here are the instructions: > > > > > > I think a valgrind trace might really help. Click back during the download/buffer and Mozilla v1.6 exits (crashes). It was in Red Hat Linux 7.2 box. I don't know if this is the same issue as QuickTime trailer that I mentioned earlier. -- "The sun's just a big glass, we're all ants, I LOVE YOU." from "Magnified" song by the Failure band /\___/\ / /\ /\ \ Phillip Pi (Ant); The Ant Farm: http://antfarm.ma.cx | |o o| | \ _ / E-mail: ph...@ap...ANT or ph...@ea...ANT ( ) Remove ANT if replying by e-mail through mailing list.
