Here's a suggestion that is bound to be unpopular- How about tying an encryption scheme into a new format? I reserve my right to make backups, but it might be wise to have a defensible position before the DVD industry lawyers take notice of Movix and MxCD. I would like to be able to say "This is for my personal use, and I'm not going to make it easy for others to copy my backups" It might deflect some resistance to widespread adoption in the future.
